artist statement
my art is rooted in the intersections of healing, memory, and identity, shaped by my personal experiences as a multi-generational, chicanx woman. I use archives, documentation, sculpture, and mixed-media to explore themes like belonging, vulnerability, and reclaiming the inner child. for me, art is a tool for healing, a way to take personal narratives and turn them into something we can all feel connected to.
each piece I create reflects the layered process of how we find meaning and make space for ourselves in the world. I bring together storytelling, found objects, and lived memories to navigate the emotional landscapes we all share. my hope is to build bridges between individual and collective histories, creating spaces where healing and belonging can thrive.
at its core, my work is about community—remembering and honoring the legacies of those who came before us while offering a sense of place for those who feel displaced. It's a deeply personal act of care and connection, grounded in the belief that our stories can hold power and hope for others.
